<title><![CDATA[MoU between three nations for Caspian pipeline]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[A pipeline will be constructed between Azerbaijan and Georgia as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to supply natural gas from the Caspian region to Europe, reports Pipeline International.<br/><br/>Those two countries joined Romania in signing the MoU which will see the construction of the Azerbaijan Georgia Romania Interconnector (AGRI) which will transport Azerbaijani gas to the Black Sea coast of Georgia via the new pipelines.<br/><br/>The gas will be liquefied at a Georgian LNG terminal, the location of which is yet to be decided, before being carried by tankers to the port of Constanta in Romania.<br/><br/>Development of the project will be overseen by a private company consisting of Romanias Romgaz Media, Azerbaijans state oil company SOCAR, and a Georgian oil company.<br/><br/>Romanias economy minister, Adriean Videanu, was joined by Azerbaijans industry and energy minister Natig Aliyev, and his Georgian counterpart, Alexander Khetaguri, in signing the deal.<br/><br/>In 2005, the first pipeline was built to carry oil from the Caspian to the Mediterranean, according to the BBC.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19729948-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19729948" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[PetroNeft pipeline project on schedule]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[PetroNefts project at the Lineynoye field in Russia is on schedule after the completion of nine production wells there, Rigzome.com reports.<br/><br/>The firm is still working on 60km of export pipeline which will run from the Lineynoye field to the Kiev-Eganskoye field, and construction on that is also on schedule.<br/><br/>All the tasks which needed to be finish before the end of the winter construction season have been finished as planned, including clearance of the route, field-welding of the pipeline and backfilling the 60km trench for it.<br/><br/>Further to the completed activities, PetroNeft must now connect the pipeline to facilities at Lineynoye and Kiev-Eganskoye. Testing of the pipeline is pencilled in for June 2010, meaning it should be ready to receive first production in the third quarter of this year.<br/><br/>PetroNeft Resources plc is an international oil and gas exploration and production company, established in 2005 to acquire and develop hydrocarbon acreage in Russia.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19726313-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19726313" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Belarus intends to increase Russian gas transit by 15 per cent this year]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Belarus has announced it plans to increase the volume of Russian natural gas transported through its territory by 15 per cent this year, when compared to 2009.<br/> <br/>This will take the total amount of gas transited through to 51.3 billion cubic metres in 2010, KyivPost reported.<br/> <br/>According to an official with the Belarusian Energy Ministry, the Beltransgas pipeline system will pump 18.5 billion cubic metres of gas this year. Last year it was responsible for transporting 14.3 billion cubic metres.<br/> <br/>The Yamal-Europe trunk gas pipeline hopes to pump 32.8 billion cubic metres of gas this year, compared to 30.3 billion cubic metres in the previous year.<br/> <br/>Original plans were for the Beltransgas pipeline to transit 15.4 billion cubic metres, while the Yamal-Europe was expected to transport 28.8 billion cubic metres in 2009.<br/> <br/>Last month, Russian gas monopoly Gazprom raised its share in Belarus gas transport company Beltransgaz to 50 per cent.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19662936-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19662936" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[European Commissions helps fund Nabucco gas pipeline project]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[The European Commission has pledged $273 million (&#163;183 million) for a gas pipeline running from Turkey to Austria.<br/> <br/>Gas would be delivered from 2015 from the Caspian region, bypassing Russia and Ukraine, the blocs commissioner for energy G&#252;nther Oettinger revealed.<br/> <br/>The funding is a milestone for European energy policy as it is the first time the commission has provided funding to construct a gas pipeline.<br/> <br/>&quot;Were not just supporting an idea anymore, were talking about funding,&quot; Mr Oettinger told a news conference in Brussels.<br/> <br/>The Nabucco project will cover over 2,000 miles and will also help Europe, which is trying to reduce its dependence on Russian gas.<br/> <br/>A total cost of $10.9 billion has been estimated to construct the pipeline and it is hoped the commissions pledge will help restart progress on the project to generate more funding.<br/> <br/>Last month, partners in the Nabucco pipeline revealed they will consider an application by French energy company GDF Suez to join the project.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19660462-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19660462" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Bosnian Serb Republic to join South Stream gas pipeline project]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[The Bosnian Serb Republic is to join the South Stream gas pipeline project, its prime minister has revealed.<br/><br/>Russian gas will be transported by the pipeline to Europe once the Serb Republic builds a 480 km pipeline in northern Bosnia to link to the South Stream pipeline, Reuters reported.<br/><br/>The new pipeline will have a capacity of up to 1.5 billion cubic metres and will run along the Sava River to Banja Luka, linking the Serb Republic with a section of the South Stream pipeline in Serbia.<br/><br/>Serbian prime minister Milorad Dodik told the news provider: &quot;Gazprom has demanded that we produce a feasibility study for the project in a few weeks or months and agree it with other countries in the region.&quot;<br/><br/>Gazprom, Russia&#146;s largest gas company, and Italian energy group ENI are key partners in the South Stream project, which is building a gas pipeline under the Black Sea to southern Europe.<br/><br/>Russia has already signed a deal on the pipeline with six countries including Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece and Serbia.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19655159-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19655159" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Petrofac pipeline begins transporting oil in North Sea]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Oil has begun to be transported from West Don and Don Southwest fields in the UK North Sea to the Thistle platform.<br/><br/>The oil is being moved via a pipeline built by engineering and construction company Petrofac, Oil &amp; Gas Journal reported.<br/><br/>Before the pipeline was constructed, the fields had been producing into shuttle tankers that were loading from a single anchor leg mooring system.<br/><br/>Now the company has brought a second production well on stream at Don Southwest.<br/><br/>Last year the oil production at the fields totalled three million bbl. Petrofac announced at the end of last year that it expected the combined production from the fields to increase this year from 15,000b/d to around twice that amount.<br/><br/>Petrofac and Swedish independent oil and gas exploration and production company Lundin have announced plans to combine their UK North Sea assets into a new company called EnQuest.<br/><br/>This week Petrofac posted full-year net profit of $353.6 million (&#163;233 million) ahead of forecasts, which was helped by winning contracts in its engineering and construction division.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19655158-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19655158" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Russian and Croatian prime ministers discuss oil and gas sector]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin and Croatian prime minister Jadranka Kosor have met in Moscow to discuss issues of cooperation in the oil and gas sector.<br/><br/>Among the topics discussed was the possibility of Croatia joining the South Stream gas pipeline project.<br/><br/>Energy group Gazproms 900km long South Stream pipeline will run under the Black Sea from the Russian coast to the Bulgarian coast. <br/><br/>The gas pipelines capacity could be increased to 63 billion cubic metres annually and it is expected to start operating in late 2015.<br/><br/>Mr Putin described the meeting as open and friendly, Balkans.com reported.<br/><br/>&quot;Russia regards Croatia as an important and reliable partner in Europe and in the Balkans,&quot; he told the news site.<br/><br/>Around 1.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas are imported from Russia by Croatia. <title><![CDATA[TransCanada to increase pipeline tolls]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[International oil and gas pipeline construction firm TransCanada has announced that it is to increase its tolls next year.<br/><br/>The increase will affect the countrys primary natural gas system in Western Canada.<br/><br/>According to TransCanada, it needs to boost levies on shipping firms to compensate for a shortfall in revenue in 2009.<br/><br/>The revenue reduction was a direct result of declining gas shipments from the regions many gas fields.<br/><br/>Commenting on the tariff increases, Greg Stringham, vice-president at the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, said: &quot;Its not unexpected, its just straight long division.&quot;<br/><br/>&quot;Their costs havent changed and our volumes have gone down,&quot; he added.<br/><br/>Russ Girling, TransCanadas chief operating officer, claimed that supply has not kept up with demand, leaving less natural gas available for export.<br/><br/>Earlier this week, the firm played down delays to its latest North American pipeline project, claiming the two-month postponement will have not have a major impact on the company.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19638099-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19638099" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Extension of Dabhol-Bangalore network to be completed in 2012]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Extension of the Dabhol-Bangalore gas pipeline network is expected to be completed by March 2012.<br/><br/>According to Goas union minister for petroleum and natural gas Murli Deora, the survey for the laying of the gas pipeline extension, which will pass through Belgaum to Goa and the compilation of field date for Right of Use notifications is already underway.<br/><br/>The news was issued by Goa MP Shantaram Naik in a press release sent to the Times of India.<br/><br/>Total cost of the Dabhol-Bangalore pipeline is expected to reach RPS 45 billion (&#163;600 million).<br/><br/>This will include the cost of a 36km long Goa pipeline will pass through the talukas of Bicholim, Ponda and Mormugao, Deora informed Naik; and a 175km spur pipeline, which will start in Gokak and end at Zuari Industries in Goa.<br/><br/>Recently, Zuari Industries announced that it had outperformed the market by a wide margin during the past year, despite the impact of the global economic downturn.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19635367-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19635367" />]]></description>
