<title><![CDATA[Bosnian Serb Republic to join South Stream gas pipeline project]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[The Bosnian Serb Republic is to join the South Stream gas pipeline project, its prime minister has revealed.<br/><br/>Russian gas will be transported by the pipeline to Europe once the Serb Republic builds a 480 km pipeline in northern Bosnia to link to the South Stream pipeline, Reuters reported.<br/><br/>The new pipeline will have a capacity of up to 1.5 billion cubic metres and will run along the Sava River to Banja Luka, linking the Serb Republic with a section of the South Stream pipeline in Serbia.<br/><br/>Serbian prime minister Milorad Dodik told the news provider: &quot;Gazprom has demanded that we produce a feasibility study for the project in a few weeks or months and agree it with other countries in the region.&quot;<br/><br/>Gazprom, Russia&#146;s largest gas company, and Italian energy group ENI are key partners in the South Stream project, which is building a gas pipeline under the Black Sea to southern Europe.<br/><br/>Russia has already signed a deal on the pipeline with six countries including Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece and Serbia.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19655159-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19655159" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Petrofac pipeline begins transporting oil in North Sea]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Oil has begun to be transported from West Don and Don Southwest fields in the UK North Sea to the Thistle platform.<br/><br/>The oil is being moved via a pipeline built by engineering and construction company Petrofac, Oil &amp; Gas Journal reported.<br/><br/>Before the pipeline was constructed, the fields had been producing into shuttle tankers that were loading from a single anchor leg mooring system.<br/><br/>Now the company has brought a second production well on stream at Don Southwest.<br/><br/>Last year the oil production at the fields totalled three million bbl. Petrofac announced at the end of last year that it expected the combined production from the fields to increase this year from 15,000b/d to around twice that amount.<br/><br/>Petrofac and Swedish independent oil and gas exploration and production company Lundin have announced plans to combine their UK North Sea assets into a new company called EnQuest.<br/><br/>This week Petrofac posted full-year net profit of $353.6 million (&#163;233 million) ahead of forecasts, which was helped by winning contracts in its engineering and construction division.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19655158-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19655158" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Russian and Croatian prime ministers discuss oil and gas sector]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin and Croatian prime minister Jadranka Kosor have met in Moscow to discuss issues of cooperation in the oil and gas sector.<br/><br/>Among the topics discussed was the possibility of Croatia joining the South Stream gas pipeline project.<br/><br/>Energy group Gazproms 900km long South Stream pipeline will run under the Black Sea from the Russian coast to the Bulgarian coast. <br/><br/>The gas pipelines capacity could be increased to 63 billion cubic metres annually and it is expected to start operating in late 2015.<br/><br/>Mr Putin described the meeting as open and friendly, Balkans.com reported.<br/><br/>&quot;Russia regards Croatia as an important and reliable partner in Europe and in the Balkans,&quot; he told the news site.<br/><br/>Around 1.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas are imported from Russia by Croatia. <title><![CDATA[TransCanada to increase pipeline tolls]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[International oil and gas pipeline construction firm TransCanada has announced that it is to increase its tolls next year.<br/><br/>The increase will affect the countrys primary natural gas system in Western Canada.<br/><br/>According to TransCanada, it needs to boost levies on shipping firms to compensate for a shortfall in revenue in 2009.<br/><br/>The revenue reduction was a direct result of declining gas shipments from the regions many gas fields.<br/><br/>Commenting on the tariff increases, Greg Stringham, vice-president at the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, said: &quot;Its not unexpected, its just straight long division.&quot;<br/><br/>&quot;Their costs havent changed and our volumes have gone down,&quot; he added.<br/><br/>Russ Girling, TransCanadas chief operating officer, claimed that supply has not kept up with demand, leaving less natural gas available for export.<br/><br/>Earlier this week, the firm played down delays to its latest North American pipeline project, claiming the two-month postponement will have not have a major impact on the company.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19638099-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19638099" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Extension of Dabhol-Bangalore network to be completed in 2012]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Extension of the Dabhol-Bangalore gas pipeline network is expected to be completed by March 2012.<br/><br/>According to Goas union minister for petroleum and natural gas Murli Deora, the survey for the laying of the gas pipeline extension, which will pass through Belgaum to Goa and the compilation of field date for Right of Use notifications is already underway.<br/><br/>The news was issued by Goa MP Shantaram Naik in a press release sent to the Times of India.<br/><br/>Total cost of the Dabhol-Bangalore pipeline is expected to reach RPS 45 billion (&#163;600 million).<br/><br/>This will include the cost of a 36km long Goa pipeline will pass through the talukas of Bicholim, Ponda and Mormugao, Deora informed Naik; and a 175km spur pipeline, which will start in Gokak and end at Zuari Industries in Goa.<br/><br/>Recently, Zuari Industries announced that it had outperformed the market by a wide margin during the past year, despite the impact of the global economic downturn.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19635367-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19635367" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[SPS makes major pipeline industry acquisition]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Sempra Pipelines and Storage (SPS) has announced that it will acquire the infrastructure assets of El Paso Corporation.<br/><br/>SPS will spend $300 million on the buyout, which includes the acquisition of El Paso Corporations wholly-owned natural gas pipeline and a number of compression assets on the Mexican border near Sonora.<br/><br/>The transaction will also see SPS take a 50 per cent stake in a joint-venture with Pemex, Mexicos state-owned oil company, which operates two natural gas and one propane pipeline in northern Mexico.<br/><br/>George S. Liparidis, president and chief executive officer of SPS, said: &quot;This acquisition expands our scale and geographic footprint in one of the strongest growth regions in Mexico, while providing entry into the emerging propane pipeline business.&quot;<br/><br/>He added: &quot;These pipeline assets are backed almost entirely by long-term contracts and have a history of delivering solid, predictable revenue streams.&quot;<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Pemex could be set to renew its rig contracts with Noble Corporation.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19635383-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19635383" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Greece to discuss oil pipeline with Russia]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Greece is set for further discussions with Russia on a delayed pipeline to the port of Alexandroupolis.<br/><br/>Speaking to Reuters, a senior Greek energy official said that the country was in talks with Moscow to discover if Russia has enough oil to fill the proposed pipeline.<br/><br/>Greek deputy energy minister Yannis Maniatis told the news provider: &quot;The key question is whether there is oil.&quot;<br/><br/>Mr Maniatis also claimed that Greece would prefer Russia to push ahead with the South Stream gas project as opposed to diverting supplies through the Ukraine.<br/><br/>&quot;South Stream will ensure bigger energy security in Europe,&quot; he added.<br/>He concluded that Greece would be more than happy to extend existing agreements between the two nations, which currently run until 2016, beyond their expiry date.<br/><br/>At the end of last year, Russia laid the first section of the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline.<br/><br/>Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin attended a ceremony to mark the completion of the first phase of the project.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19618991-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19618991" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[GazProm to invest in European pipeline]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[International oil and gas firm GazProm has been given the go-ahead to invest in a $10 billion pipeline which will terminate in Germany.<br/><br/>The infrastructure will be the first of its kind to link to Western Europe.<br/><br/>A Finnish agency has approved Nord Streams plans to construct the new pipeline under the Baltic Sea and gas shipments are expected to commence as early as next year.<br/><br/>The new pipeline proposals were objected to by Poland and the Ukraine, the former describing them as the equivalent of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact which divided Europe before World War II.<br/><br/>However, Alexei Knizhnikov, an oil and gas program coordinator at WWF Russia, told Bloomberg: &quot;In general, approvals and discussions were objective although excessively politicised.&quot;<br/><br/>&quot;The process that has just been completed doesn&#146;t remove all potential threats and issues at the implementation stage,&quot; he added.<br/><br/>Recently, Hungary announced that a section of natural gas pipeline between itself and Arad, in Romania, had been completed.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19613883-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19613883" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[Construction of Nord Stream and South Stream pipelines will begin this year]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Construction of Russian gas company Gazproms Nord Stream and South Stream pipelines will begin this year.<br/><br/>The news that the natural gas pipelines that run from Russia and the European Union will go ahead was announced by key partners in the two projects.<br/><br/>Gazprom is planning to begin construction of the South Stream pipeline in December, once approval from Turkey has been granted in November.<br/><br/>The South Stream pipeline will transport gas via the Black Sea and Bulgaria to Austria and Italy.<br/><br/>Construction of the Nord Stream pipeline, which runs beneath the Baltic Sea to Germany, will commence in April even though Finlands approval for the project was delayed.<br/><br/>This week Gazprom also revealed that it could invest in Ukraines gas pipeline system if it was invited to do so, Reuters reported.<br/><br/>Deputy chief executive Alexander Medvedev said any investment would not replace the need for Gazprom to develop the South Stream pipeline.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19609858-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19609858" />]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[GLP Plant wins contract to construct Tasmanian pipeline]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[A contract has been awarded to GLP Plant for the construction of a pipeline that will run between the Tasmanian Gas Pipeline and the BOC Micro-LNG Plant that is being built in Westbury.<br/><br/>GLP Plant will design, build and commission the 180m steel pipeline and Trenchless Technology is being considered for crossing sections of the pipeline.<br/><br/>Once completed, the BOC-Micro-LNG Plant will be capable of providing 50 tonnes a day of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the heavy transport sector.<br/><br/>It is anticipated that the plant in Tasmania will become fully operational mid way through this year.<br/><br/>Back in August last year NGV Global reported that the construction of Australia first Micro-LNG plant had begun in Westbury.<br/><br/>GLP Plant is part of the GLP Group, an Australian owned and operated company that was set up in 1998. It designs, procures, installs and commissions process plants and process equipment.<br/><br/>&quot;BOC is investing $150 million (USD 124 million) across Tasmania in the construction and operation of the Micro-LNG plant and supplying six re-fuelling stations to LNG Refuellers Pty Ltd,&quot; BOC South Pacific managing director Colin Isaac told the news site at the opening ceremony.<img alt="ADNFCR-2586-ID-19609863-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=2586&itemid=19609863" />]]></description>
