The Bosnian Serb Republic is to join the South Stream gas pipeline project, its prime minister has revealed. Russian gas will be transported by the pipeline to Europe once the Serb Republic builds a 480 km pipeline in northern Bosnia to link to the South Stream pipeline, Reuters reported. The new pipeline will have a capacity of up to 1.5 billion cubic metres and will run along the Sava River to Banja Luka, linking the Serb Republic with a section of the South Stream pipeline in Serbia. Serbian prime minister Milorad Dodik told the news provider: "Gazprom has demanded that we produce a feasibility study for the project in a few weeks or months and agree it with other countries in the region." Gazprom, Russia’s largest gas company, and Italian energy group ENI are key partners in the South Stream project, which is building a gas pipeline under the Black Sea to southern Europe. Russia has already signed a deal on the pipeline with six countries including Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece and Serbia.
