A contract has been awarded to GLP Plant for the construction of a pipeline that will run between the Tasmanian Gas Pipeline and the BOC MicroLNG Plant that is being built in Westbury.
GLP Plant will design, build and commission the 180m steel pipeline and Trenchless Technology is being considered for crossing sections of the pipeline.
Once completed, the BOCMicroLNG Plant will be capable of providing 50 tonnes a day of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the heavy transport sector.
It is anticipated that the plant in Tasmania will become fully operational mid way through this year.
Back in August last year NGV Global reported that the construction of Australia first MicroLNG plant had begun in Westbury.
GLP Plant is part of the GLP Group, an Australian owned and operated company that was set up in 1998. It designs, procures, installs and commissions process plants and process equipment.
"BOC is investing $150 million (USD 124 million) across Tasmania in the construction and operation of the MicroLNG plant and supplying six refuelling stations to LNG Refuellers Pty Ltd," BOC South Pacific managing director Colin Isaac told the news site at the opening ceremony.
