Italian energy corporation Eni is considering a project that will transport Turkish gas to Italy, in oil and gas recruitment news.
According to Reuters, through the proposed scheme, Turkmen gas would be transported to Italy, Eni chief executive Paolo Scaroni explained.
Mr Scaroni also spoke about the possibility of constructing a conduit to carry gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to India and Pakistan.
"It is still a very embryonic project we are thinking of ... it would allow Turkmen gas to reach us through Turkey," he remarked.
He went on to say that the initiative would be separate to the Nabucco and South Stream projects and noted that Turkey is emerging as a key player in European energy routes it has already said it is ready to supply the Nabucco pipeline.
To consolidate the plans, Eni signed an agreement with Turkmenistan recently, which will see a series of studies conducted as to the feasibility of the plans.
A memorandum of understanding was inked that aims to promote and strengthen cooperation in the development of latters petroleum industry.
