Kollsnes modifications could lead to oil and gas recruitment

Published on Saturday 5th December 2009

Oil and gas recruitment opportunities may become available through pipeline modification projects on Kollsnes.

Gassco has been granted permission to carry out the works at the processing plant, which is owned and operated by StatoilHydro.

Included in the changes is the tiein of new P12 gas pipes from the Troll A facility to the Kollsnes plant.

This will also include reception and auxiliary systems, which form part of the project that will reduce the amount of pressure lost at the field and therefore enhance production capacity.

In addition, Gassco will implement a new mono ethylene glycol (MEG) and water treatment system in order to make the terminal more robust.

This will involve replacing the existing MEG trains with those made from more resistant material and will increase their capacity.

Kollsnes is located west of Bergen in Norway and treats oil from the Troll, Kvitebjorn and Visund fields in the North Sea and can process as much as 143 million cubic metres per day.
