Contracts have been distributed to companies, which will construct a new pipeline in Argentina, in a move that could lead to oil and gas recruitment opportunities.
Royal Boskalis Westminster and the Allseas Group are set to build the conduit, named the Transmagallanico Gas Pipeline, according to Pipelines International.
The channel is to traverse the countrys Strait of Magellan, between Cape Espiritu Santo and Cape Virgnes, and is expected to cost $249 million (£150 million).
At 38 kilometres in length and with a 24inch diameter, the pipeline will have a capacity of 188 MMcm/d of gas, when it is completed at the end of the year.
The news provider reported that Enagas has suggested linking the conduit to the Austral Basin gas fields in the south of the country.
Elsewhere in Latin America, Subsea 7 recently announced it had acquired a contract in the Gulf of Mexico, which could also result on oil and gas recruitment opportunities.
An installation agreement was signed with Anadarko Petroleum for the development of the Caesar/Tonga complex.
