Oil and gas recruitment opportunities may arise from a new pipeline project planned for Mozambique.
The countrys staterun energy firm Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonatos (ENH) launched an international tender in order to choose a company to advise on the scheme, Reuters reports.
Estimated to be worth some $85 million (£53.4 million), it is hoped the pipeline will boost local supplies of gas.
Nelson Ocuane, ENH chief executive, explained that $20 million will be spent in constructing the pipeline itself, while the distribution operation will take up the remaining funding, which could potentially lead to onshore vacancies.
Mr Ocuane also noted that the conduit would link the industrial city of Matola with Maputo, the capital.
Currently, there are three sedimentary basins of natural gas in Mozambique, in Pande, Temane and Buzi. The substance was first discovered in 1962.
In recent years, Petrofac has invested in a pipeline to supply South Africa with petrol and diesel from the Maputo region of the country.
