Oil and gas recruitment: BP Angola awards pipeline contract

Published on Friday 2nd October 2009

BP Angola and Total E&P Angola have announced that a new pipeline contract has been awarded, which could be good news for oil and gas recruitment in the region.

The firms have chose Acergy to install some 70 km of new pipeline in a $110 million (£68.4 million) deal.

Construction is expected to begin in quarter two next year. The line will transport natural gas from the offshore Block 2 near Angolas northwest coast.

It will be connected to an onshore pipeline that will feed into the Angola LNG plant near Soyo in the Zaire province, which could potentially provide new onshore vacancies.

Commenting on the development, Acergy chief operating officer Bruno Chabas remarked: "This contract award further reinforces Acergy’s strong presence in Angola and will enable our clients to build their involvement in the Angola LNG project."

This represents part of the broader Block 17/18 GEP Phase 2 project, which is designed to facilitate the commercialisation of the countrys natural resources.

Acergy is a seabedtosurface engineering and construction firm, which services global oil and gas companies.
