Acergy has announced it has been awarded a $170 million (£106 million) contract for the construction of a pipeline in Australia, potentially leading to fabrication and construction engineering vacancies.
The firm outlined the plans, which involve the transportation and installation of 91 kilometres of 16inch rigid pipeline for Apache Energy in its Devil Creek Development Project.
Furthermore, the work will include a shallow water beach approach, a subsea tiein and stabilisation works, in addition to a wellhead platform.
Engineering and project preparations are expected to take place immediately, both in Kuala Lumpur and Perth, although installation is scheduled for late 2010.
Commenting on the development, Jean Cahuzac, chief executive officer at Acergy, said: "This award … demonstrates our capability and versatility by offering competitive solutions for both shallow and deepwater projects."
He also pointed out that the construction will utilise the companys Sapura 3,000 dynamic positioning heavy lift and pipelay vessel.
Acergy was also awarded a $110 million contract from Total E&P Angola and BP Angola for the installation of 70 kilometres of pipeline.
