A contract for the replacement of a pipeline on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia has been awarded, which could interest those looking at oil and gas recruitment in the region. Barmada McDermott, an affiliate of J Ray McDermott, has been given the role as part of a deal with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia. It will work on a 12inch full well stream pipeline between GuntongB and GuntongA, which are based off the coast, those looking at oil and gas recruitment in the region may be interested to discover. Installation is expected to be completed in the third quarter of the year and the project will include the transportation and installation of a flare boom on the GuntongA platform. Scott Cummins, vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific at J Ray McDermott, claims that the arrangement follows an earlier deal for the replacement of the pipeline between GuntongC and GuntongA. He states: "Our customers confidence in our ability to successfully complete fasttrack projects with dedicated focus and ontime delivery is reinforce with the award of this additional contract." Earlier this year, the organisation announced it will be upgrading its DB50 construction vessel by adding thrusters and boosting its energy supply.
