The Volund development has produced its first oil, those looking at oil and gas development in the North Sea region may be interested to discover. Marathon Oil Corporation, which operates the project through the Marathon Petroleum Company, has announced that this is the completion of the second major field development scheme in Norway. Kristin Faerovik, managing director of the firm, says this forms the second tieback to the Alvheim floating, production, storage and offloading vessel, those looking at oil and gas recruitment may be interested to discover. "This exceptional performance means that the facility is already being fully utilised, resulting in the first Volund well functioning as a swing producer until there is some natural decline in the Alvheim fields," he states. In other news, Subsea 7 has completed hot top technology trials in the North Sea, which could allow those hired through oil and gas recruitment to perform intervention activities on underwater pipes at both high and low pressures.
