Chevron Australia has welcomed approval of an extension of the Gorgon Project and emphasised the number of new jobs it will create, which could interest those looking at oil and gas recruitment. Peter Garrett, federal environment minister, has agreed to the schemes revised scope, which will enable it to move towards a final investment decision. Roy Krzywosinski, managing director of Chevron Australia, says the project has been sited to avoid areas of conservation significance, with the expanded project having only a minimal additional impact on the environment compared to the alreadyapproved plans. He states: "The Gorgon Project is Australias largest single resource project and is set to deliver significant economic benefits and create around 10,000 indirect and direct jobs during peak construction." In other news, Oil and Gas Journal has reported that environmental approval for Arrow Energys pipeline between the Surat basin and Gladstone has been obtained, which could create new oil and gas recruitment opportunities in the area.
