Initial oil production has begun at a site in the Republic of Congo, which could create new opportunities for those looking at oil and gas recruitment. Murphy Oil Corporation has initialised output at the Azurite field site in the Mer Profonde Sud block. The location, which is based in the territorial waters of the African country, has the capability to process an estimated 40,000 barrels of oil per day. According to the company, it is the industry’s first floating production storage and offloading facility with drilling capabilities, which could interest those looking at oil and gas recruitment in the region. David Wood, chief executive officer and president of Murphy Oil Corporation, claims that the development is a landmark. He states: "The Azurite project marks an innovative approach to minimising the cost and maximising the value of a deepwater development. Production from the field will continue to ramp up for the remainder of the year." In other news, the Oil and Gas Journal has reported that parent firm OAO Transneft has established the Far Eastern Construction Directorate to work on the second phase of the East SiberiaPacific Ocean pipeline system, which could create new jobs for those looking at oil and gas recruitment.
