A joint refining and chemical complex is to be built at Zhanking city’s Donghai Island, which could create new positions for those looking at oil and gas recruitment. China Petroleum and Chemical (Sinopec) and Kuwait Petroleum Corp have agreed to work together on the project, which is scheduled for completion by 2013. While it still needs approval from China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the $9 billion (£5.44 billion) project is to be constructed at the new site after taking guidance from a number of consultants. A spokesperson from Sinopec claims that the organisations will be working together to assess the suitability of the project, which could create new jobs for those looking at oil and gas recruitment. "From this week, the two sides will start feasibility studies for the new site and an evaluation report on environmental impact," the representative states. Sinopec recently received approval from the NDRC to work with Saudi Basic Industries Corporation on a petrochemical complex in Tianjin, which could result in new job opportunities for those looking at oil and gas recruitment in the region.
